(3 day trip)

Laax Highlights:
Swiss style and efficiency
Accessible off-piste and freeride areas
Great Langlauf (cross-country) routes
Variety in terms of pistes
The Tee-pee steak house….
Laax/Flims has a good distribution of easy, intermediate and advanced pistes to keep skiers and boarders of any ability entertained (see piste map below). The lift system is operated with that usual Swiss efficiency and has very few bottlenecks meaning queues are usually short. There is an excellent ski school (including day groups for children) and a good variety of restaurants and bars dotted all over the mountains to suit all tastes.
Then there is the fact that Laax/Flims is the freeride capital of Switzerland. Freeride areas in the form of ‘non-pisted’ pistes makes Laax/Flims the ultimate choice for those seeking a bit of adventure outside the realms of the pretty coloured posts. Last year we branched out and tested out the local Langlauf (x-country) courses (map below) which I’ll be returning to this year. Lessons and kit hire are available.
We shall be returning to our ever so accommodating Hotel Vorab (www.hotelvorab.ch). Located in the centre of Flims Dorf, 10 mins from the lifts, it adds comfort and convenience into the equation. There is no busing in to town at silly o’clock in the morning and no stressing over getting cabs back at ungodly hours of the night. The Hotel Vorab offers us 5 course evening meals, a hearty breakfast buffet (it’s really good) and use of the wellness area with sauna and whirlpool bath. And if your 5 courses aren’t enough, the hotel has its’ own pizzeria and newly opened ‘fondue stube’ to really crisp those arteries off.
Included in the cost (€430 internal €465 external) of the trip is:
- Bus transfer from EUM/ESOC to and from Laax/Flims (relatively short bus trip). Bus leaves around 4pm Thurs, back late Sunday night.
- Accommodation in the centrally located *** Hotel Vorab including breakfast, 5 course evening meal and use of the wellness area.
- Lift pass
