Mailing Lists

We have a mailing list called EIS-Info. All members will be put on the list; as ever, you won't be taken off unless you ask (but then we will, we promise!), or remove yourself via the web interface, or shut down your email. It will be used for announcements about trips and social events, much as we've always used the email lists - but there are a couple of advantages:

  • It's in one central place, and all the committee can post to it - there's no need to wait until one person can forward it, or use old lists. So we can send urgent news faster
  • It's archived here
  • You can subscribe and control your subscription yourself here. (If you've been automatically subscribed, you'll have to start by having the list send you a password. Don't worry about it.)
  • This is a "moderated" list: if anyone other than the committtee tries to post to it, it will have to be approved before it gets out. And the members' email addresses are hidden, so the chances of their being mis-used are kept low.

If you're not an EIS member you're still welcome to subscribe to the list

If there's any interest in free-for-all mailing lists, let me know. We have forums on the website, but if enough people would like a mailing list, it can be set up easily enough.

Visit the EIS-Info archive here.

There is also an email-based interface for users of the list; you can get info about using it by sending a message with just the word `help' as subject or in the body, to: Eis-info_eiski.net-request@mail.eiski.net
